Tom Yum Goong flavoured Pennii Popcorn from Thailand – spicy, sour, creamy popcorn snack sold at Suvarnabhumi Airport Bangkok

Tom Yum Popcorn Wins an Award in Indianapolis – OMG I Have to Try This!

So I've been beaten to the finish line, but I swear it’s always been on my radar – because as an authentic Tom Yum lover, I know how sour, spicy, and addictive that flavour can be. And now, Nomad Snacks’ Tom Yum Popcorn has officially won at the Most Innovative New Product Awards, presented at the 2025 Sweets & Snacks Expo Awards Ceremony in Indianapolis.

Tom Yum popcorn is a bold move, and this award has really put Nomad Snacks on the global map. They’ve managed to capture one of Southeast Asia’s most iconic flavours and translate it into a snack format that excites both adventurous eaters, savoury rebelz like myself and industry judges alike. Tom Yum is complex – tangy from lime, fragrant with lemongrass, spicy from chilli, and traditionally layered with the rich depth of shrimp. To recreate that balance in popcorn, without losing its authenticity, is a serious achievement.

And this feels personal for me. Last year, I spent a summer in Thailand – a season of exotic vibes, soul eating and sun – and it was at Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok that I bought a bag of Pennii Premium Popcorn – Tom Yum Goong flavour. Made with French premium butter, it was tangy, creamy, spicy, layered with seafood depth, and absolutely unforgettable. That single bag of Pennii Popcorn convinced me that Tom Yum truly belongs in the world of bold, gourmet snacking.

At PopCornaa, we celebrate this kind of fearless flavour innovation too. Our award-winning creations like Seaweed Wasabi & Soy, Coco Green Matcha, and upcoming Sriracha Soul were built on the same belief: that popcorn deserves to be bold, daring, and globally inspired. And let’s see how our Sriracha Soul will fare when we launch it for the UK market next month.

You can also read more about our own recognition on our Awards & Press page.

So seeing Nomad Snacks take home this award — while remembering my own Pennii Tom Yum Goong discovery in Thailand — only confirms it: the future of popcorn is all about fearless flavour.
